On average, one suicide occurs every 17 minutes. On average, a young person (age 15-24) dies by suicide every 2 hours and 12 minutes. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death for all Americans. Suicide is the third leading cause of death ages 15-24, second leading cause of death among college students, eighth leading cause of death for males, nineteenth leading cause of death for females and fifth leading cause death for ages 5-14.
More people die from suicide then homicide. There are approximately 750,000 suicide attempts each year. An estimated 5 million living Americans have attempted suicide.
About 88 people die by suicide each day in the U.S. 32,637 people have died by suicide. 400,000 people have landed themselves in the emergency room for self-inflicted injury.
You are not alone. There are millions of other people out there who are feeling the same exact way: alone, depressed, useless, unwanted, hurt. But no matter how bad things seem like they are, or how bad they’re getting… no matter how late you’re awake at night because your thoughts are tormenting you and keeping you awake, the voice inside your head won’t let you sleep. No matter how alone you truly feel inside, there’s someone out there that’s in the same position you are. You just have to realize you’re surrounded by people that feel your pain, that you aren’t the only one suffering. You’ve been given a gift called life and it’s much too precious to waste. Suicide is 100% preventable and there are so many alternatives other then ending your life. You’ve been put on this earth for a reason and no matter how terrible things may seem they’re getting, the bad things that are happening to you are only going to make you stronger. God only places the heaviest burdens on the strongest people because he knows they can handle them.
I keep getting messages about people saying it’s time for them to end their lives, how they just can’t take it anymore, their lives aren’t worth it… You’re young, you don’t know what it’s like to live, you’ve experience 1/8th of your life. You have so much to look forward to and you have so much left. You shouldn’t let it all go to waste and you most certainly shouldn’t let the bullshit you’re going through now get the best of you. Things may not get better tomorrow, the next day, next week or even the week after that. But eventually things are going to get better, you just have to believe. You have to know that there are other people out there that are willing to listen to you and that are willing to help. You have people that care. You are not alone.
